The University of Tampa offers several options for middle and high school students to engage in music education through summer camps. University faculty will lead these week-long opportunities and engage with students to flourish their musical skills.

2024 Camp Information:

All UT Summer Camps are Day Camps, there will be no overnight component.

Camp Tuition: $400, all inclusive. (Includes rehearsals and classes, sheet music, lunch Mon-Fri, dinner for evening concerts and events, camp t-shirt, finale concert, etc). Discount available for children of UT Faculty and Staff.

Payments will be collected on the first day of each camp (June 2, 9, 16 and 23 respectively).

There are no auditions required to attend camp, but there may be placement auditions once you arrive at camp. (At the directors' discretion)

Sample Schedule:

Sunday – afternoon (time TBD for each camp)  introductory meetings/activities, collecting payments, paperwork and all other housekeeping and logistics items before rehearsals start Monday morning

Monday–Friday – 9 a.m.-5 p.m., dropoff begins 8:30 a.m. – normal camp schedule including rehearsals, lunch, classes, master classes, electives and more

Friday – 7 p.m. – Camp Finale Concert, open to public. Invite your friends and family!

Piano Camp

The Piano Camp at The University of Tampa is an intensive music workshop for piano students, entering grades 6-12 in the upcoming fall semester, with at least one year experience playing piano. Led by Grigorios Zamparas, UT professor of music, this week-long program includes coaching by UT piano faculty, performances by the faculty and students and other musicianship-building activities. No audition required.

Daily schedule includes piano lessons, practice time, master classes, and a lecture series including music history, piano literature, piano technique, pedagogy and more.

Tuition: $400, all-inclusive

Orchestra Camp

The Orchestra Camp at The University of Tampa is a music camp for string students entering grades 8-12 in the upcoming fall semester. Sponsored by the Department of Music at The University of Tampa, the Orchestra Camp is led by Megan Maddaleno, UT director of orchestral studies. Daily schedule includes orchestra rehearsals, master classes, chamber music, stretching/injury prevention and electives (music technology, composition, conducting, etc).

Tuition: $400, all-inclusive

Band Camp

The UT Band Camp is a comprehensive music camp for woodwind, brass and percussion students entering grades 7-12 in the upcoming fall semester. Sponsored by the Department of Music at The University of Tampa, the Band Camp is led by Brandon McDannald, UT director of bands and music education.

This week-long program includes high school and middle school band experiences, master classes and chamber music with UT music faculty and musical electives. 

Tuition: $400, all-inclusive

Choir Camp

The UT Choir Camp is an intensive music camp for all chorus students, grades 6-12. Sponsored by the Department of Music at The University of Tampa, the Choir Camp is led by UT faculty Matthew Abernathy, Rodney Shores, Tara Swartzbaugh and Stephen Padgett. This week-long program includes high school and middle school choir experiences, choral and Broadway repertoire, movement and electives such as class piano, music theory and guitar.

Tuition: $400, all-inclusive
